How did grassy manage to turn a thread about rumors into a rant about Perth footy club?

Anyway, seems Francis has made a decision about his footy future... has anyone heard anything?

Laverde wants out.
He and his manager in talks with the Club about finding a trade deal for him.
He's contracted for next year.

sadly hasn't taken his opportunities in 5 years at the club. Still think he can be a player. May net a third round pick so in my view better to persist for one more season in the off chance he may come good. Would hate him to go on to bigger things elsewhere and in turn we land a dud 3rd round pick. If he fails to shine next year then fine, trade him away. Same applies to Langers.

Probably ends up at Saints with a swap deal with Carlisle (even though I don’t want that muppet back)

Every time he has started to get his shit together on field, he winds up injured.

Lots of competition for his spot (medium tall forward) with Stringer, McKernan, Brown and Langford. If we make a play for Jack Martin (who is 6'1") there is yet another one queuing up.

Would prefer a swap with Port for Powell-Pepper.

For sure.

Didn’t Laverde attempt to get to the Saints a couple of years ago though?

Two things for Laverde to consider.
1. He's been given multiple chances but is physically fragile as evidenced by his injury history.
2. He's not taken his chances consistently, partly due to inaccurate kicking for goal. Good in the VFL but less so at AFL level. I look away when he has set shots now.

Given more accurate kicking, he'd be written about in a very different way.

Yes - but Nick Hind is now pretty much playing the role that the Saints envisaged for Laverde.

Laverde just doesn’t appear to be enjoying his time at the club. Maybe because of the injury set backs, who knows. And that could be a thing - the fitness / medical department have let him down. Certainly have with a few others!

Would be pretty useful if he could hold a mark. I doubt if I have ever seen a player spill so many marks after getting both mitts on the ball. And most of these have been when he has cleared the opposition.

Would not lose any sleep if he fkd off.
Too far for Baker now he's on to it, now he’s got it, OPEN GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Dons are in front by one point at the 8 minute mark

Bingo!
Said the exact same thing about his marking a few weeks back on another forum, and everyone just went blah blah about how he makes a contest.

Maybe he has an eyesight issue because that happens a hell of a lot with him. I am sure he was one of the main culprits in one of the earlier of the season losses where the ball would be delivered to his advantage to mark, he gets there, gets his two hands up and the ball would simply hit his hands.

What's his marking like in the VFL? The only game I've seen him play @ VFL level was at WH and he was marking everything and kicked 6 or 7. 2018 I think.

The difference between AFL and VFL standard is sadly where he's still at. His progress has been a disaster for both us and him.
