Round 3: Ess vs St Kilda

Post by s'dreams »

Ins: Parish, Redman, Caddy, Kelly
Outs: Wright (susp), Hind, Menzie, Davey

Hobbs for the subs vest. Though he didn't set the world on fire on the SCG.

Menzie had a shocker in Sydney... 6 possessions at 16% accuracy

Totally agree.

I hope they don’t select Weideman. He was bloody woeful in the VFL.

doesnt surprise me. weideman has never been any good. draper talked about spending more time playing forward in the preseason. probably best to play draper foward and have him play ruck when the balls in our F50.

I doubt Parish will be available. Hamstring awareness 1 week ago.
Caddy did very little in VFL last week.
Dropping Hind, Menzie and Davey would really reduce our forward pressure presence given there's no-one in the VFL to put their hand up, but someone has to go to make way for Redman. And Davey did nothing, nada, zero, zilch as sub last week.

Out: Wright, Davey
In: Jones, Redman

If Parish is selected, then Jones misses out.

They didn't have much forward pressure presence in Sydney. They were shocking.

What I want this week is Essendon Edge x 100.

I want a take no prisoners approach to our footy all year. I want Marvel full to brim with Bomber supporters who want to see that hard edge we’ve been known for in the past.

I want to stick it right up the AFL for continuing to use our club as the test case and the example.

See you at Marvel on Saturday arvo.

Go Bombers!

Well, if Weideman cannot crack the team with Wright missing, he may as welll climb into the skip bin right now.

Not even an emergency.

He just needs a bit of luck and continuity. Form and confidence will follow.

He's depth at best.
How many years has he been in the system? And has never found the right combination of luck, continuity, form and confidence.
That can't be put down to being unlucky.

He looks un-derdone and disinterested.

Did he go to Arizona? Bet ya he didn’t.

Lazy.

His ‘effort’ last week in the VFL was disgraceful. What did Scotty say… “if we have players who aren't going to buy into that part of our program, in terms of the investment in the elite AFL lifestyle, they'll stand out, and they'll stand out in a bad way”

Yep, Weid sure did.

good ol blind windy hille. weideman is horrible. hes been horrible at melbourne and nothing has changed.

8 yrs in the game now. how much longer? melbourne have needrd a key forward for some time and he couldnt hold his spot. we needed a key forward last year due to wrights injury and he couldnt hold his spot. wright is suspended and he still cant get a game.

time to wake up.

I’m so blind… I could see the value in Kyle Langford. But you wanted him on the scrap heap.

I’m so blind… I could see the talent in Conor McKenna. But you wanted him sent back to Ireland. Good to see him in last year’s granny.

I’m so blind… I could see how good BZT could be. But you said he’d never make it. Wonder if he’ll play in this year’s granny? :-k

With both bookends out and no height on the forward line, our small forwards will have to take up the slack big time.

I am assuming Draper will spend some time on the forward line to make up the deficit.
Too far for Baker now he's on to it, now he’s got it, OPEN GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Dons are in front by one point at the 8 minute mark

And that play says it all.

Kicking into the forward 50 a high ball to Menzie ... picked off by Marshall backing back.

No pressure from any of our players.

I dunno how we’re only 11 points down.

Feels like an 11 goal difference in play.

Hahaha… wow. Stole it!

The package delivered the winning goal. Great kick!

I have no idea how we won this, but here we are.

Must say, Hepps and McGrath were outstanding after quarter time. The work rate lifted (as it needed to) to claw our way back into the game.

Jones had a good game. Please stay intact.
